US-based gaming company, had a team of 5 IT specialists in Ukraine, all holding Belarusian citizenship. Following the onset of the full-scale invasion, the client needed to relocate the team internationally and rehire them through an EOR/International PEO.
Aside from the urgency of the situation, was selecting a European destination that issues work permits for specialists with Belarusian passports. This was complicated by the impact of the war in Ukraine on embassy and consulate operations in Belarus, as well as the country's domestic policies. Many European states no longer accept Belorussian citizens who want to relocate for work.
That we implemented for the client was to acquire the right of entry to Cyprus on a tourist visa or type D visa for all 5 employees through an online application. Once the visas were issued, the employees arrived in Cyprus and applied for a long-term work permit through the EOR model. Our specialists were in charge of the entire relocation process.
The team successfully relocated to Cyprus, with Acvian serving as their new legal employer under the EOR model. The client company thus ensured them a safe living and working environment in the new country.
